A look at Chanukah's historic origins from Mis-nagid (by way of DovBear)
While you're visiting DovBear, check out another of his December 12 posts, "HATS FOR WHO?" with a hyperlink to Rav Aharon Abadi on hats and jackets: "This whole uniform thing is a huge sin" . That DovBear just loves posting hyperlinks to stuff that many folks don't want to talk about.
Enjoy your last latkes and/or scarf up those sufganiyot.

Hey! That sounds just like me. Can I put that quote on my sidebar?
:)
Nice to see you here.
Which quote did you have in mind?
If you're referring to the quote from my profile, I'm not sure the tallit-wearing-woman part quite suits you, but as to the problem of not really fitting in either a left-wing egalitarian or a right-wing traditional Conservative synagogue, the shul-doesn't-fit problem seems to be a regular epidemic. Check out Adam Ragil at http://baynonim.blogspot.com, still trying to choose between his friendly local Modern Orthodox synagogue and his friendly local shteeble; Golda Leah at http://westernjew.blogspot.com/, a somewhat more traditional type stuck in a nearly-one-shul town in which the one shul is getting to be too non-traditional for her comfort level; Naomi Chana of http://www.baraita.net/blog/, debating whether she's really comfortable anymore at Reform Temple Boondoggle or whether she should really spend more time at Conservative Congregation Beth Boondoggle, even though she considers herself Reform . . . well, you get the picture. I think there are a more than a few of us "perpetual misfits" in the Jewish blogosphere. Welcome to the club.

May I?
Be my guest.
